July 26, 2023 – Wendell August Forge Tour

WENDELL AUGUST FORGE TOUR

Wendell August Forge was founded by coal mine owner Wendell McMinn August in 1923 in Brockway, Pennsylvania. In the early 1920s, August undertook the building of a fine new home with colonial architecture and ornamental hand wrought iron. One of Wendell August’s early metalworkers said that August couldn’t find “two door latches that would match the ones he had. So he took one of them to a blacksmith at his mine {Ottone Pisoni} and asked him if he could make two like that.” This would lead to the two men starting Wendell August Forge.

Wendell August Forge is a family. Each of our pieces are handcrafted in their Pennsylvania workshop by artists, die engravers and craftsmen.   The team works tirelessly using century old techniques that have made Wendell August Forge the oldest and largest in America.

PLEASE NOTE:  TRANSPORTATION WILL NOT BE PROVIDED – ATTENDEES WILL NEED TO ARRANGE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO WENDELL AUGUST FORGE

Details:  All participants are to meet in the showroom at 12:45 p.m. to be assigned a tour guide.  The tour will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m.  The tour is about 45 minutes and ends with each person receiving a piece of metal which they will hammer and take home.
